MiyaMiya, Impact Arm of Pedago, Quantic’s Sister Company, is Named Clinton Global Initiative Commitment Maker, Expands STEM Education Access in Cambodia

September 23, 2024MiyaMiya, the philanthropic arm of Pedago, the sister company of Quantic School of Business and Technology, has been honored as a Commitment Maker by the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). This recognition highlights MiyaMiya’s dedication to advancing education, specifically STEM learning, in Cambodia. As part of this commitment, MiyaMiya will spearhead a comprehensive program aimed at equipping underserved students in Cambodia with critical STEM skills through an innovative, mobile-first digital learning platform.

CGI has recognized MiyaMiya’s commitment to partner with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS), in a STEM-focused initiative that will target over 10,000 students in grades 7, 8, 11, and 12 across Cambodia’s most underserved regions over a 24-month period. The program, which aligns with Cambodia’s Education Roadmap 2030, will focus on improving proficiency in high-need subjects such as Mathematics and Biology, key areas identified for student performance improvement by MoEYS.

“MiyaMiya’s mission is to provide access to high-quality education for marginalized communities,” said Karim Chrobog, Executive Vice President of Pedago and MiyaMiya. “Recognition from CGI is an incredible honor and will only help our efforts to scale and grow the impact we stand to have on Cambodia’s educational landscape.”

Expanding Access to STEM Education

MiyaMiya’s initiative leverages Pedago’s proven active learning methodology, a core component of the educational platform that’s used by Quantic and Valar Institute. This approach focuses on machine-driven microlearning and immediate feedback to keep students engaged and ensure knowledge retention. The platform will be localized for Cambodia, offering lessons in the language of instruction and adhering to the national curriculum.

By utilizing mobile technology and low-bandwidth solutions, MiyaMiya’s platform is optimized to reach students in both urban and rural areas, ensuring equitable access to education. Local delivery partners such as Kampuchea Action to Promote Education (KAPE) and Empowering Youth Cambodia (EYC) will help implement the program, leveraging their deep-rooted connections in the Cambodian educational system to ensure its success.

Driving Systemic Change

Pedago’s platform, which powers Quantic School of Business and Technology, is known for its award-winning pedagogy that transforms how students learn. The same active learning techniques that have been proven effective in Quantic’s MBA and EMBA programs are also central to MiyaMiya’s delivery. This method encourages mastery-based progression, providing students with the skills necessary to excel in both academic and real-world applications.

As part of its collaboration with MoEYS, MiyaMiya will not only improve student outcomes but also contribute to long-term systemic change. Data gathered from the program will be integrated into Cambodia’s Education Management Information System (EMIS), helping the government refine its future STEM education interventions.

A Commitment to Long-Term Impact

MiyaMiya’s education initiative in Cambodia is one of many regions where the program is making an impact. From its start in 2018 delivering STEM education to secondary-level Syrian refugees and at-risk Jordanian students, to its pioneering partnership with the World Bank’s Gender Innovation Lab in Ethiopia to provide skills to local female entrepreneurs, to its middle school-aged STEM programs in Afghanistan, Somaliland, Lebanon, and throughout Africa, MiyaMiya has continually found ways to collaborate with local stakeholders to deliver a transformative education through a mobile-based platform, bringing modern learning opportunities to underserved regions. Across all these initiatives, MiyaMiya’s commitment to accessible, quality education drives its mission of long-term social impact.

The Clinton Global Initiative Commitment Maker recognition underscores MiyaMiya’s unwavering dedication to using education as a tool for empowerment and economic development. “Education is the key to unlocking Cambodia’s future, and we are committed to providing the tools and support necessary for every student to thrive,” added Chrobog.
